How I Overcame Depression & Anxiety
I filmed the footage used in the video below in August 2015, but I never seemed to gather the courage to edit the video. However, I woke up at 2:00 a.m. this morning and decided it was finally time to share my story. I followed the leading to complete it and worked furiously while my family slept. I knew someone would benefit from my transparency. I am confident in the empowering nature of sharing our struggles with the world. I overcame in order that you or someone you know may see there is light at the end of the tunnel. I happened (although nothing is by chance) upon a hashtag on Twitter today, #HEYBLACKGIRL. I immediately knew what I was to contribute:
#HeyBlackGirl It's ok to admit you suffer from mental health issues. Let's get you help. There is support in our community.

#HeyBlackGirl You don't have to be "strong" all of the time. Vulnerability is an attractive trait. — Sherrica (@SherricaShea) September 30, 2015

I know for a fact that I was helped greatly by my mother and other women in my family, when they chose to share their struggles with me. We soon realized anxiety was generational and collectively WE had to make changes in our lives to ensure that younger generations did not fall into the excruciating cycles of depression and anxiety.
Let's get the conversation started. Please feel free to share your stories with me by emailing info@sherricasims.com.
