It's more than HAIR!
(@SherricaShea) July 19, 2014
I take great pride in caring for my daughter's hair, as well as my own. Every time I touch her hair I am sure to speak positively of her unique texture. Telling her that her curls and kinks are special, just as God intended for them to be.
As her mother it is my duty to ensure that she has a healthy appreciation of what makes her different and uncommon. I am not teaching to worship her hair strands, but to appreciate them. She should never feel pressured to conform to a standard of beauty that forces her to change her very essence.
As we sit down for our weekly styling/washing sessions those are moments that we have "girl time." I tell her that she is beautiful and she replies that she beautiful just like me. Impartation takes place. Wisdom is transferred. Affirmations are established.
Some will never understand why hair is so important. It's more than hair! It's a part of accepting our Oneness, acknowledging God's perfection, and loving ourselves holistically.
